What it is.

Lymphatic drainage uses very light, specific strokes that follow the body's lymphatic pathways. It is one of the gentlest treatments we offer in pressure, but one of the most precise in technique. It is designed to support the natural flow of lymph fluid — particularly useful for fluid retention, post-surgical recovery (with doctor's clearance), and certain conditions related to circulation. This is a clinical-style treatment. You will not fall asleep dramatically; you will feel light, focused work that does not feel like much during the session and noticeable afterwards.

Who it suits.

For visible fluid retention — particularly in legs and ankles, common in Dubai's heat. For post-surgical recovery, with your surgeon's written clearance. For hormonal bloating around menstruation. For anyone who has been told by a doctor that lymphatic stimulation might help them.

What to expect.

10 min

Arrival

Setup, plus a longer conversation about your reason for booking. If you have had surgery, we will ask to see your clearance note (a photo on your phone is fine).

5 min

Preparation

Minimal oil — the strokes need skin contact, not glide.

40 min

The work

Very light, slow, specific strokes along lymphatic pathways. Starts at the neck and clavicle, moves systematically through arms, abdomen, legs. The therapist works with steady focus.

5 min

The close

Light closing strokes. You will be asked to drink water and then to use the bathroom — both are part of the treatment.

What we bring.

Minimal oil, standard kit.

What you'll need.

A quiet room. The session needs to be uninterrupted but does not require dim lighting.

Who carries it.

Therapists specifically certified in manual lymphatic drainage. Not all Lumea therapists are. At booking you will see who is.

Honest answers.

Why is the pressure so light?

The lymphatic system sits very near the surface of the skin. Heavy pressure compresses the vessels rather than helping them flow. The technique is light by design, and that is exactly why it works.

How many sessions will I need?

Depends entirely on your reason for booking. For monthly fluid retention: one session may help. For post-surgical recovery: typically 6–12 sessions over several weeks, per your surgeon's recommendation.

Will I feel different right after?

Most people feel light, sometimes notice slight redness in worked areas, and need to use the bathroom — fluid is moving.

Is this safe during pregnancy?

With doctor's approval, yes — and it is specifically helpful for pregnancy-related swelling in the legs. Mention it at booking and bring your doctor's note.
